I’m one of those people who believe that nothing beets the feeling of having a clean house with fresh cut flowers, a home cooked meal on the stove, and the smell of a fragrant candle that fills the whole house. Unfortunately, keeping the house clean isn’t always the case, a home cooked meal often gets replaced with Thai take-out, and fresh cut flowers die almost the minute I buy them. However, a candle takes no time to light; it doesn’t take commitment and the smell still evokes a cozy feeling. I have a thing for candles, so I have way to many candles in my home. I know that they can get expensive (Hello Diptyqueparis.com) however; when my money is funny and my change is strange I turn to these candles to keep my bank account happy. Luckily for you and your nose I have The Absolute Best Smelling Candles To Share with You For $20.00 and under. Thank me later.
Scentsational Candle “Intrepid”
I used to be able to go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls and find this candle for $6.99. I don’t know what happen but now I cant find it anywhere around NYC! When I couldn’t find it, I knew that Google was the only way to get the goods. It was indeed a joyous occasion when I found this online. My joy quickly turned to regret because the cheapest I could find it for was $16.95. Why regret you ask? I regret that I didn’t buy the whole darn store when they were available. I did however order a few from scentsational-products.com. I love the smell so much I am willing to deal with the ten-dollar increase. The scent is described as having a masculine overtone. Intrepid contains a daring blend of sweet, woody fragrances. It isn’t too masculine and it isn’t too sweet it’s the perfect in between scent. If you are lucky enough to find this in store buy all of them!
Roam “New York”
The name of this candle threw me off. I am a born and raised New Yorker so I have an idea of what New York smells like. Let me just say that the notes of amber, birch, mineral, and patchouli are not what comes to mind when I think of an New York smell. If by “Amber” you mean dollar pizza, or if by “Birch” you mean nasty subway smell, then ok you hit it on the head. What this candle does smells like is a NYC art gallery or a posh NYC boutique. Don’t come here thinking the city smells as good as this candle because it in fact does not. I brought this in store at Urban Outfitters. (They often has a great candle selection for $20 and under.) But when I go to the website it isn’t listed. It may be in a store near you or you can order it from shop.candlefish.com It’s a small candle that packs a serious punch. It keeps my whole apartment fragrant and for $20.00 you cant go wrong!
Fleur d” Orange
This candle I must say isn’t a smell that I normally gravitate to. Its flowery and citrus notes are not usually what makes me happy. However there is something about this candle that make me rethink my candle game. It’s a nice fresh scent that smells like freshly washed clothing on a spring day. Its a sophisticated scent that I would imagine would be in a little boutique in the country some place. The best part is that I scored this, and continue to do so, from TJ Maxx for $4.99! It really does leave a room very fragrant without being over powering. Buy it in store or at tjmaxx.tjx.com. Buy one of these candles or buy all of them. You wont be disappointed.
Have any of you tried any of these? What are your “go to” candles?
